Get your dream car gassed up and ready for classic car cruises.
Wow do I love Muscle cars! As a teenager growing up in Metro Detroit one
couldn't escape the attraction of man to his "high performance" babe mobile.
Every Friday night it was a ritual of passage. Wash up the car and head off to the old
Detroit Dragway or favorite local Carhop hangout to meet up with all your friends.
Cruising Woodward or Gratiot Avenue for girls and bumming gas and fast food money was part
of the ritual. Getting to ride in a honest to God real Muscle Car capable of blowing off
your high school friends in a spur of the moment drag race was the ultimate rush. Well
those "Happy Days" are still with some of us car enthusiasts turning Metro
Detroit back to the 60's and 70's in a series of Muscle and vintage car cruises every
summer.

Featured: The Shelby Cobra
GT500 is reborn in 2007

The GT500 now comes into full light, punctuated by the classic
LeMans-style white stripes that race along the top of the show car's "SVT Red"
paint from nose to tail. The stripes recall the Shelby Mustangs that marked another
important 1960's Mustang transition when Ford put it on the track to becoming a racing
legend. The GT500 nomenclature is prominent in the lower bodyside racing stripe, another
cue from the classic Shelby Mustangs.
Shelby Cobra GT500's LeMans and tri-bar stripes inspired by classic Shelby designs,
functional front splitter and air extractors inspired by aerodynamics of the 2005 Ford GT.
"The new Cobra GT500 Mustang has classic design cues from some of the best-looking
Mustangs of all-time, including the Shelbys," says Keith Rogman, Mustang senior
designer. "The design of the GT500 has been at the forefront of our minds since the
outset of the entire Mustang program."

The Shelby design elements alone are enough to tell the GT500 story but
are not the only visual cues that set this Mustang apart. The reworked front fascia
features a functional air splitter and the unique hood has heat-extraction ducts,
combining to provide improved airflow and aerodynamics. Revised headlamp insets offer a
more aggressive look and result in symmetrical upper and lower grilles with large air
openings, creating a visual connection to the classic vintage Shelby Mustangs.
The unique rear fascia features strakes inspired by the Ford GT's integrated rear airflow
diffuser, and a rear spoiler reminiscent of a classic GT500. To mark the collaboration of
two Mustang performance icons, the GT500 features Shelby and SVT badging. Continuing the
snake logo tradition of past-generation SVT Mustang Cobras, as well as late-model Shelby
Mustangs, the fenders each feature an updated design of the Cobra. For the first time on
any SVT Mustang, the front grille features an off-center snake in place of the standard
running horse. "GT500" is emblazoned inside the side rocker stripes, and the
name "SHELBY" is prominently featured across the rear deck. The SVT logo can be
seen on the wheel center caps, a signature SVT location, as well as on the doorsill
plates. To top if off, the "gas cap" medallion between the taillights reads
"Shelby GT500" centered on the Cobra image. Click

musclecar.
This site is dedicated to those who still get a thrill from
those big block/rubber burning gas guzzlers we lovingly call Muscle cars.

The same crowd and their siblings still flock to Ted's drive-in for the
annual Woodward Dream Cruise even if they have to drive within car club caravans from
California, Florida and all parts of the USA to BE THERE. This site showcase dealers and collectors who not only restores and details
the vintage Muscle cars for customers, but we help broker these classic for buyers and
sellers worldwide. Yep...The folks in the UK, Italy and Germany, amongst other countries,
prize a USA Muscle Car over even their more expensive local made exotic sports cars. Look
over our site and join our Yahoo e-mail forum and keep the love affair and spirit of the
high performance cruising alive. There's nothing like the sound of a vintage solid lifter
MoPar Hemi or 427 big block Chevy motor to get your adrenaline flowing.
"Woodwarding" became the
craze in the 1950s and 1960s as teenagers discovered the thrill of taking the family car
out for a spin along the boulevard from Ferndale to Pontiac. Cruisers gathered at drive-in
restaurants, such as Teds Drive-in at Square Lake Road in Bloomfield Hills and the
Totem Pole drive-in restaurant at Ten Mile Road in Royal Oak. Muscle car competitions hit
its heyday in the mid-1960s. Journalists took note of the phenomena sending correspondents
from Car and Driver, Motor Trend, and CBS World News to cover the action on the strip. The
trend continued until new car safety standards altered car design in the 1970's and the
horse power craze got neutered by the gas mileage and Greens Peace liberals. Nevertheless,
the love of cars and cruising would experience a renaissance as millions flock annually to
Detroit for this annual Mecca of Muscle Car enthusiasts .
The Woodward Dream Cruise is the world's largest celebration of car
culture and one of Metropolitan Detroit's most anticipated annual events. Held along
Woodward Avenue from Ferndale to Pontiac and covering 16 miles, this mid-summer Motor City
classic attracts more than 1.8 million people from around the world and 30,000 vintage
cars. Young and old alike pack the boulevard to celebrate the nostalgia, while reveling is
this popular social event gawking at the mirrored finished GTO's ,Vettes, TransAMs, Dodge
Chargers, Hemi -Cudas, AC Cobras, Mustang GT350's, Buick GS and Grand Nationals doing
crowd cheering burn-outs under the eyes of the traffic cops....LOL. Attending the parade
along Woodward has been an annual tradition for generations of Metro Detroiters.
